About Block Energy Design
Block Energy Design will help meet your project goals by integrating the building
design to be energy-efficient, resource and water conserving as well as healthier and
more durable. We provide consulting from early design through construction. Our
services include green building consulting, design and verification services for
GreenPoint rated and LEED for Homes, energy modeling, increasing financial
incentives, LEED™ and CHPS documentation. We have the latest technology which
makes us easy to work with.
We have three CEPEs, a HERS rater and two Certified GreenPoint Raters on staff.
Linda Butler is both a Certified Energy Plans Examiner and GreenPoint Rater for
residential buildings. She is also proficient with ArchiCad and 3D modeling. Andrew
Williams is also a Certified Energy Plans Examiner for residential buildings and
proficient with AutoCad and 3D modeling.
Sharon Block, principal and owner, is a LEED AP specializing in LEED for Homes as
well as a Certified GreenPoint Rater for both new and existing homes. She is a
Certified Energy Plans Examiner for both residential and non-residential buildings.
She is also a certified Home Energy Rater and a CHEERS Certified Existing Homes
analyst. Sharon has served on the board of the California Association of Building
Energy Consultants and the Northern California Solar Energy Association. She has
worked on contracts with the California Energy Commission and has provided training
to building departments, architects and builders on the Building Energy Efficiency
Standards. In 2006, she was part of the project team that won the integrated design
team award in PG&E's Savings by Design Program for high performance buildings.
She provided optimized energy modeling as well as a life cycle cost study on the
modernization of the Santa Rita Elementary school in the Los Altos School District.
